Andrew Fielke hosts Jarvis group corporate breakfast at the Adelaide Zoo
The Jarvis group, comprising Jarvis Ford, Toyota and Subaru, held their annual corporate breakfast on the 9th of November in spectacular style at the Adelaide Zoo Panda enclosure. The morning was hosted by ex-AFL player, and Crows team member, Mark Bickley, with the menu and food designed, and prepared by myself.
The morning began with the guests waiting outside the enclosure space and given an orange juice fruit ‘cocktail’, accompanied with a native finger lime citrus caviar, before being ushered into the enclosure. Platters of fresh summer fruits, with bowls of apricot and lemon myrtle compote with Greek yogurt awaited the guests when they were seated at their tables.
The Pandas were held in their night enclosure, whilst the keepers greeted the breakfast guests and told them about the special animals. The animals, named Wang Wang and Funi, were flown out to Australia at the beginning of the year from China in a mutual agreement between their Chinese home and the Adelaide Zoo. The keepers went on to tell the guests what it is like looking after, and working so closely with the endangered species. Soon after, fresh bamboo was placed in their glass enclosure and the animals were released to the delight of all in the room. They happily munched away on their bamboo as the guests continued the next course in their breakfast.
The morning was a very unique experience for the Jarvis team, and myself, as only those companies with corporate sponsorship of the Panda enclosure are able to use the space for functions. I was able to describe the flavours and the ingredients used in the dishes that the guests enjoyed, which is always satisfying to impart my knowledge and passion for native Australian foods.
Savoury platters with exotic tastes followed the first fruit course, including yabby and chive scrambled eggs with crusty baguettes, sweet corn fritters with rocket, and roast cherry tomatoes and chipolatas wrapped in smoky speck with a spiced bush tomato relish were enjoyed by all.
The breakfast with the giant pandas was finished off with guests sampling delicious mini Danish pastries, and a selection of Tuckeroo mini-muffins.
